Spring forward with these Spring cleaning tips

Spring is right around the corner. Here at Delysia Chocolatier, we’re gearing up for springtime with some new ideas and a fresh outlook on what’s to come. With the new season approaching, a new opportunity presents itself to renew and rejuvenate our surroundings. The best way to start fresh is to revamp your home with good old-fashioned spring cleaning, and Delysia is here to help! Here are a couple of tips on maximizing your spring cleaning.

It’s the little things

While you may keep a clean home most of the time, we are all guilty of not tending to every nook and cranny. Dust and sanitize every corner and every surface that generally gets ignored, from the ceiling to the floor. You will sleep better knowing there are no longer dust bunnies under your bed.

Change your perspective

Speaking of sleep, as important as it is to all of us we never get enough of it. Bring things into the bedroom to aid in the process of falling and staying asleep. Curtains keep light out for those precious hours- if you already have curtains consider changing them up a bit. This can really change the look of your room and add a good ambiance. Bring in some soothing smells as well, lavender is great for de-stressing and relaxation. For an added effect, pair with a Lavender Chocolate Bark and your worries will melt away.

Stop clutter at the door

Create a station at the entrance of your home for keys, shoes, jackets, and other items that we tend to remove as soon as we walk into our space. This will make you feel much more organized as soon as you walk through the door.

Make a checklist

Cleaning the whole house can be quite intimidating. Write down a realistic list of specific things you would like to accomplish. Checking each item off your list as you go will leave you with a sense of accomplishment and motivate you to keep going. Now is a great opportunity to make sure that your fire extinguisher is still in perfect working order in case of an emergency. You can check the expiration date and make sure you are familiar with how to operate it. Also, make sure to check the batteries on the fire alarms in your home to make sure your loved ones are always protected.

Refresh your kitchen

We use our stovetop and oven almost every day, so cleaning it should be a high priority. Deep clean your stove by shaking some baking soda on a damp sponge and wiping down every surface. Our food would not taste as nice coming from a dirty stove. Make it easy on yourself in the future by lining your oven with a nonstick oven liner that can be removed and wiped down easily.

Clean up your act

Did you know that most chores only take about 10 minutes to do? If you don’t believe us, time yourself! You will be amazed at how much you can accomplish when you don’t waste any time. Speaking of waste, consider switching to microfiber cloths instead of paper towels when going about your spring cleaning routine. They are reusable and inexpensive. You’ll feel better about not wasting materials, and the environment will thank you for it.
