Celebrate National S’mores Day with Delysia

Today is National S’mores Day- a day dedicated to the beloved campfire classic. The perfect summer day isn’t complete without a campfire and a bag of marshmallows, which means it may be time to head to the store to pick up all the fixings, so you can celebrate this sweet day the right way.

History of S’moresSmore's bark with graham crackers and marshmallows

This gooey sweet treat has been around as long as we can remember, but no one quite knows who invented it.

The recipe first appeared in Tramping and Trailing with the Girl Scouts in 1927, but history suggests that it has been around much longer than that. The idea of roasting a marshmallow dates back to the 1890’s, where a small newspaper reported that marshmallow roasts were one of the latest summer fads.

So it’s hard to say when some brilliant individual decided to combine a sticky toasted marshmallow with a chuck of chocolate and crumbly crackers, but it’s easy to say that this gooey treat will be around for many years to come!

Time to Start Roasting

It’s time to break out those marshmallows and get to roasting! S’mores aren’t meant to be enjoyed alone, so make sure to invite a few friends.

Smore's bark between graham crackersHave each of your friends bring a random ingredient to try in your s’more. S’mores don’t just need to be marshmallows, chocolate, and graham crackers!

Think outside of the box and try switching out these staples with new ingredients. Instead of just milk chocolate, try putting a chocolate bar filled with nuts or peanut butter like our Peanut butter or Pecan cayenne bark! Or try switching out your graham crackers for chocolate chip cookies!

Don’t have time to celebrate with a campfire? Delysia Chocolatier’s S’mores chocolate bark is the perfect treat to enjoy on this sweet holiday. The creamy chocolate mixed with gooey handmade marshmallows and crumbly graham crackers will taste just like the traditional sticky treat!
