Festival necessities everyone needs

IMG_20160617_124348After years of showcasing at food and wine festivals and catering major events like SXSW and ACL, Delysia Chocolatier has come to understand the festival circuit. No two festivals are exactly alike, but there are a few essential festival necessities everyone needs no matter the event.

Comfortable Shoes

An absolute must is a comfortable pair of shoes. You’re going to be on your feet all day long. Aching, blistered, sore feet will quickly ruin the fun and distract you from what’s going on at the festival.

A few footwear options include:

  • Black tennis shoes. They look a little dressier than white tennis shoes and will stay clean.
  • Shoes with supportive material that are comfortable at the same time.
  • Foldable flats. Pack a pair of foldable flats if you’re going to an event that requires heels.

Agenda

There’s a lot going on during a multi-day festival. If you’re exhibiting or presenting you’ll have to juggle those duties with exploring what the event has to offer.

Have a game plan; trying to do and see as much as possible requires a bit of preparation. Preparing an agenda can help you focus on the top priorities and create a schedule that will effectively maximize your time. Some festivals, like ACL, even have apps with agenda tools and updates if a scheduled event changes.

Fully Charged Phone

We love sharing our festival experiences with friends and fans. That’s part of the fun! Your phone is an essential tool for capturing and sharing the big moments. If you’re participating in a festival, your phone is also vital for coordinating and correspondence.

Lots of festivals now have charging stations, but they’re usually crowded. A portable charger is something you may want to add to your packing list. The charger can be powered up before you head out and fully recharge your phone if needed. The best part is portable chargers don’t have to be plugged into an outlet.

A Special Way to Celebrate

Festivals are major events for the participants, speakers, hosts, sponsors and attendees. For some it required months of planning and many hours of work. It’s a special occasion that should be celebrated accordingly.

It could be indulging in a local delicacy. Our limited release chocolate truffles are always popular with festival-goers who are looking for a memorable experience they can’t get just anywhere. Having a night out on the town or staying an extra day to explore the city are two more ways to celebrate the occasion and make memories

Nicole Patel is the proprietor of and chocolatier for Delysia Chocolatier. In 2006 while pregnant with her first son, Nicole made a batch of chocolate truffles as holiday gifts. To the delight of friends and family, she continued to create chocolates as a way to relieve stress from her corporate engineering job. In 2008, a chance trip to Becker Vineyards led to Nicole being the first in Texas to make truffles using local wines. Within five years, what started as a hobby turned Delysia into one of the Top Ten Chocolatiers in the Americas, as selected by the International Chocolate Salon.
