Downton Abbey and Chocolate

What kind of chocolate would the Dowager Countess enjoy?

We’re HUGE fans of 800px-Highclere_Castle_smallDownton Abbey here at Delysia Chocolatier. Between the sweeping views of the show’s Highclere Castle setting, the stunning period costumes, or the upstairs-downstairs-infused drama
, the lives of the Crawleys and their staff are riveting television. Of course above all, we’d like to know which of Delysia’s decadent chocolates would be served at a Downton dinner party. So we offer you a completely hypothetical look at what type of chocolate Downton Abbey characters would love. Downton Abbey and chocolate certainly make a decadent combination for a Sunday night.

Lord Grantham: Robert Crawley is fiercely loyal and honorable. His love for his family is unmatched. He has a divine taste for wine, making our award-winning Wine truffles the ideal selection for his lordship.

Lady Grantham: Cora Crawley’s sweet nature would only be enhanced by the calming sweetness of our Lavender Hot Chocolate. Don’t forget the homemade marshmallows, fluffy as the day Mrs. Patmore whipped them up.

Lady Mary: Though the Crawleys’ eldest daughter is strong-willed and arrogant, her softer side rises to the surface when it comes to her family, including Downton’s servants. These two sides to Lady Mary indicate she would love the salty and sweet combination our popular Salted collection offers.

Lady Edith: After being jilted at the altar, perhaps poor Edith will take comfort in one of our elegant solid chocolate cake crowns.

Violet Crawley: The Dowager Countess is hard to please and not afraid to let you know it. Since she’s not one for adapting to new sensations – a swivel chair caused an uproar – we think she’d desire our Classic collection.

Mr. Carson: Downton’s butler is a stickler for the rules. A gentleman through and through, our Gentlemens’ Collection, with cigar, scotch, and rich dark chocolate, would be Mr. Carson’s ideal choice for a proper chocolate treat.

Mrs. Hughes: Warm and caring, Mrs. Hughes would be the first to comfort you if you had a bad day. Our Tea collection is just what she would need as she lends you her ear.

Anna and Mr. Bates: Downton’s resident lovebirds are still riding the newlywed high. Our Valentine collection with romantic champagne and strawberry flavors, would most definitely be part of their day-off picnic.

Thomas: Conniving and deceitful Thomas has a fiery temperament if he’s crossed. The heat and bittersweet combination of our award-winning Pecan-Cayenne bark is surely what he would have up his sleeve.

Mrs. Patmore: Set in a time before foodie was even an expression, Mrs. Patmore’s culinary prowess has been known to bring many a gentleman to his knees. She relies on classic techniques and shuns from new inventions, like an electric whisk. We think she would swoon over the classic taste of pistachio, pecan, and almond in our Nut truffles.

How do you think we did in our assessment of Downton Abbey and Chocolate? Who did we forget? Would Molesley even like chocolate?
