5 reasons why mothers deserve chocolate

As a mom, Chef Nicole fully understands that a chocolate indulgence is much deserved no matter how old your kids are. Moms are busier than ever raising families, helping their communities and making waves in the workforce. There are countless reasons why mothers deserve chocolate this Mother’s Day, but these are a few of our favorites.

Mothers deserve chocolate because they are excellent financial managers.

When it comes to household finances, 59% of working moms manage the budget on their own and another 30% share the responsibility with their spouse. Without mom, family vacations, school shopping, and everyday comforts wouldn’t be possible.

Mothers deserve chocolate because they make us better drivers.

Experts have found women are in fact better drivers than men, and they attribute motherly instinct as one of the most influential factors. All the chauffeuring that moms do doesn’t hurt either. But moms aren’t just good drivers themselves. They also make their kids better drivers too. Researchers at the University of Illinois found that when moms were present during simulated driving tests their teens were less likely to engage in risky driving.

Their bodies completely transform during pregnancy.

A woman’s body is truly amazing during pregnancy. Everything switches gears to help support the new life growing inside her. A few of the most amazing things that happen are:

  • The mom-to-be grows a completely new organ – the placenta.
  • The uterus also grows from the size of an orange to the size of a watermelon by the delivery.
  • Pregnant women produce 50% more blood in order to support the baby.
  • After giving birth moms get super sensitive hearing because a hormone called oxytocin surges in the brain.

Mothers deserve chocolate because they make great best friends.

There’s no denying that your mom is your biggest supporter. New research also proves they are great friends. When the Benenson Strategy Group surveyed 1,000 Millennials 55% said they felt their parents (particularly their mothers) were their best friend.

Moms are educational role models.

Plenty of research shows that moms make excellent role models, but a recent study found that they are especially impactful when it comes to education. Both daughters and sons were heavily influenced by their moms in regards to finishing secondary school and achieving higher education.

Mothers deserve chocolate every day of the year, which is why we put every ounce of our love and appreciation into the Mother’s Day Collection Chocolate Truffles. The decadent White Chocolate, Lavender and Rose Tea truffles of the collection were inspired by Chef Nicole’s own mother and grandmother.

Happy Mother’s Day from the family at Delysia Chocolatier!
