It’s that wonderful time of year when Texas wineries invite you to get your feet purple and stomp some grapes. Delysia Chocolatier has compiled a round-up of all of the stompin’ good times to be had along the Texas Hill Country wine trail.
Pedernales Cellars Grape Stomp
Participate in the ancient practice of crushing grapes by foot, and then make a souvenir of the experience by placing your purply footprints on a commemorative T-shirt. The T-shirt can be purchased in the Pedernales Cellars tasting room for $14.99. There will be live music to accompany the stompin’ on August 17.
Texas Hills Vineyard 13th Annual Grape Stomp
August 17-18 & 24-25
Enjoy the smells of new wine and the excitement of the harvest season. Have a glass of wine paired with Texas cheeses, sausage and crackers on our patio while stomping grapes (Remember Lucy!) to the romantic sounds of Italian music. Don’t miss out on footprinting a t-shirt to remember the occasion.
Fall Creek Vineyards 24th Annual Grape Stomp and Harvest Festival
Extraordinary two-course lunch & demos will be offered by star chefs Brad Turner, Senior Sous Chef of the Carillon New American Grill & Cowboy Chef Paul Petersen of the Escoffier School of Culinary Arts. There are two seatings each Saturday, 11:30 am and 1:30 pm. Patio lunches are also available by reservation. There is something for the entire family – wine tastings, live music, bocce ball, ping pong, tours & more. For kids there will be a Castle Bounce, play house, face painting & hayrides. Of course the main attraction is the ‘stomp’ where guests can kick off their shoes and experience the thrill of bare feet grape stomping, a la I Love Lucy. The classic episode will be playing so guests can ‘stomp along’ in the wine barrels.
