Spring is in the air, which means wedding countdowns are beginning. The Delysia Chocolatier kitchen is busy handcrafting custom desserts and molded chocolate for eager brides and grooms. It’s just one of the many things on the wedding day checklist. This installment of our spring wedding tips includes ways to handle it all in stride and be the best bride and groom you can be.

Let people help

Too often couples stress themselves out by trying to take on everything themselves. Stress is the quickest way to ruin the experience and turn into a bridezilla or groomzilla. If friends and family offer to help, take them up on it. Find something specific that they can take care of for you, like picking up table cloths or addressing envelopes. It will be one less thing you have to stress about.

 

Schedule a little alone time on your wedding day

In between the wedding and reception, you’ll have a brief window where it’s just you, your new spouse and a photographer. As soon as you’re done taking pictures give yourselves 15-20 minutes of alone time. Make sure to pencil it in your wedding day schedule since everything at the reception runs on a timeline.

You might not get many opportunities to eat in peace, and the last thing you want is to feel lightheaded on your special day. Arrange for someone to bring you and your loved one some champagne paired with some wine inspired chocolate truffles to keep your spirits lifted.

Everyone else will be busy getting to the reception and taking it all in, but as soon as you arrive you’ll be the center of attention. It’s your day as a couple, so take a few minutes to relax and enjoy it without any distractions.

 

Let the bridal party have some control over their attire

There’s nothing worse than being thrust into an outfit that’s not your style or color and then have to stand there in front of acquaintances throughout a wedding ceremony. Give your bridesmaids and groomsmen a little bit of say in what they wear and it will be much appreciated. A good example is letting bridesmaids pick their own dress as long as it’s a specific length and color.

 

Take time to celebrate the occasion with your wedding party

Your wedding day could end up being a little hectic with so much going on. It’s important to take time to loosen up and celebrate your special day so it doesn’t seem like a day at work. Grab your bridesmaids and groomsmen for a mimosa brunch to start the day on a relaxed note. Add a few decadent treats like our chocolate truffles and one of the best days of your life will be off to a great start!

Nicole Patel is the proprietor of and chocolatier for Delysia Chocolatier. In 2006 while pregnant with her first son, Nicole made a batch of chocolate truffles as holiday gifts. To the delight of friends and family, she continued to create chocolates as a way to relieve stress from her corporate engineering job. In 2008, a chance trip to Becker Vineyards led to Nicole being the first in Texas to make truffles using local wines. Within five years, what started as a hobby turned Delysia into one of the Top Ten Chocolatiers in the Americas, as selected by the International Chocolate Salon.
