Notes from the Chocolatier – March

Notes from the Chocolatier: Easter Holiday Memories
Finding treats from the Easter Bunny is one of my favorite Easter holiday memories.

Spring has finally sprung, and one of my favorite holidays of the year — Easter — will be here soon! Being a mother of two beautiful boys, Easter has an extra special meaning to me – and reminiscing of the Easters we celebrated when I was a little girl. I remember my brother and I running down the stairs to sneak a peak at what the Easter Bunny left for us in our baskets. Now, watching the delight in my boys’ eyes as they do the same brings back such sweet, nostalgic memories.

When we decided to build the Delysia Culinary Center, we wanted to have a family element to the experience. I know how much joy making (and eating!) chocolate brings to my own family and we wanted to offer similar experiences for others to enjoy. My boys have grown up watching Mommy make chocolates and bringing them home treats to taste. When he was two, my oldest son sampled some chocolate-dipped strawberries at the local grocery store and then declared, “Mommy, yours are much better.” Ever since then, he will only eat “Mommy’s chocolate” – he already has a discerning palette!

Since family is so important to me, especially during the spring holiday season, I’m so excited to invite you to an upcoming family Easter celebration at the Delysia Culinary Center. Please join us for a free, fun Easter egg decorating event this Sunday! Each child will get a chocolate Easter egg to decorate with special chocolate markers so they can show off their artistic abilities.

During the event, we’ll take a photo of each child’s whimsically-decorated egg, and then we’ll post a photo of each egg during the following week. Our followers will then vote for the best, most creative egg – so make sure you follow Delysia on Facebook and Twitter so you can cast your vote. A lucky winner in each age bracket will receive a super sweet Delysia Solid Chocolate Bunny!

Parents, this will be a fun (and delicious) event for you, too; we’ll have delectable Delysia chocolates available for tasting at the event just for the grown-ups.  Please RSVP on our Facebook Event page so we know you’re coming. Further details are below.

Nicole Patel is the proprietor of and chocolatier for Delysia Chocolatier. In 2006 while pregnant with her first son, Nicole made a batch of chocolate truffles as holiday gifts. To the delight of friends and family, she continued to create chocolates as a way to relieve stress from her corporate engineering job. In 2008, a chance trip to Becker Vineyards led to Nicole being the first in Texas to make truffles using local wines. Within five years, what started as a hobby turned Delysia into one of the Top Ten Chocolatiers in the Americas, as selected by the International Chocolate Salon.
