Notes From the Chocolatier: Happy New Year

Happy New Year! I reflect on the past year with much gratitude and want to take a moment to say thank you to my partners, customers, and most of all, my family, for your continued love and support.   Last year, we celebrated Delysia’s 7-year anniversary, our Culinary Center’s 1-year anniversary, and the beginning of our store hours. We also had the opportunity to attend inspiring events such as the Austin Food & Wine Festival, Atlanta Food & Wine Festival, and Aspen Food & Wine Festival. Read more about our biggest and best moments of 2015 here.

With the New Year comes revitalization.   It’s a time to contemplate achievements, reevaluate dreams, and set goals. No matter what your resolutions are, I think everyone agrees that living a healthy lifestyle is not only a very popular resolution, but also a very significant resolution. Whether you’re working on improving your mental, physical, or emotional health — good for you!

One way to benefit your mind, body, and spirit is to enjoy chocolate! Chocolate releases endorphins to stimulate the mind, contains antioxidants to promote body health, and has the ability to comfort, improving your wellbeing.

“It has been shown as proof positive that carefully prepared chocolate is as healthful a food as it is pleasant; that it is nourishing and easily digested…that it is above all helpful to people who must do a great deal of mental work…” Anthelme Brillat-Savarin

So as you work towards your goals this year, know that New Years resolutions don’t need to exclude chocolate. We are excited to share our chocolate boutique with more patrons in Austin this year. We hope to see you at one of our special events, classes, or other culinary experiences, such as private parties. We are so thankful to our loyal customers for all of the things we were able to accomplish in. Though we don’t know what 2016 will behold for us, we can’t wait to share everything with each and every one of you. For more information regarding our upcoming events and classes, sign up for our newsletter!

Nicole Patel

Nicole Patel is the proprietor of and chocolatier for Delysia Chocolatier. In 2006 while pregnant with her first son, Nicole made a batch of chocolate truffles as holiday gifts. To the delight of friends and family, she continued to create chocolates as a way to relieve stress from her corporate engineering job. In 2008, a chance trip to Becker Vineyards led to Nicole being the first in Texas to make truffles using local wines. Within five years, what started as a hobby turned Delysia into one of the Top Ten Chocolatiers in the Americas, as selected by the International Chocolate Salon.
