Delysia Wins Silver 2013 International Chocolate Salon Awards

The 2013 International Chocolate Salon Awards, presented by Taste TV and Chocolate Television, bestowed upon Delysia Chocolatier several medals in the Top Chocolate Bar category. Our Salt Lick Dry Rub Bark and Pecan Cayenne Bark were submitted for the competition.

“Winning these awards is a huge honor, especially so soon after receiving a Four Star Best Chocolatiers & Confectioners in America Award from the International Chocolate Salon,“ says Delysia’s proprietor and chocolatier Nicole Patel.

Selected judge’s comments included,  “Delysia’s Salt Lick BBQ Dry Rub Chocolate Bark was the best tasting, best textured chocolate. Their Pecan Cayenne Bark was also solid.”


The Salt Lick BBQDelysia’s partnership with The Salt Lick has been longstanding. Patel approached The Salt Lick with the idea of making truffles with their signature barbecue sauces and wines. She also suggested combining the same dry rubs that The Salt Lick uses on their brisket and ribs with chocolate to create the award-winning bark. “Partnering with local businesses has been one of the most successful aspects of Delysia Chocolatier,” says Patel. “Winning this award with The Salt Lick has validated these partnerships as Delysia Chocolatier continues to grow and expand our business.”

Judged by a panel of regional and national food and media experts The International Chocolate Salon Awards are one of the industry’s most prestigious competitions. In last year’s awards, Delysia Chocolatier won several medals in the Bridal Category for their chocolate menus.

Nicole Patel

Nicole Patel is the proprietor of and chocolatier for Delysia Chocolatier. In 2006 while pregnant with her first son, Nicole made a batch of chocolate truffles as holiday gifts. To the delight of friends and family, she continued to create chocolates as a way to relieve stress from her corporate engineering job. In 2008, a chance trip to Becker Vineyards led to Nicole being the first in Texas to make truffles using local wines. Within five years, what started as a hobby turned Delysia into one of the Top Ten Chocolatiers in the Americas, as selected by the International Chocolate Salon.
