Thanksgiving Treats for the Kids

As a mom, I am always looking for simple but unique treats to make with the kids. They love helping out in the kitchen and these Thanksgiving snacks were perfect – even the 2 year old could participate.

Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats

To create these adorable pumpkins, make a batch of your favorite Rice Krispies Treats recipe, adding a few drops of orange food coloring. Using the Wilton Ice Cream Cup Pan and or simply rolls the treats into a ball with your hands, create the pumpkin. Use green icing to decorate the pumpkins with vines and a tootsie roll for the stem.

Acorn Sweets

These acorns are the simpliest of treats. Take a Hersey’s Kiss and adher a mini Nilla wafer (Colin’s favorite) to its base using peanut butter or chocolate icing. Put a small dollop of peanut butter or icing to the center of the Nilla wafer and place a mini pretzel stick for the stem. It’s just that simple.

Indian Corn Cookies

Make a batch of your favorite cut-out cookies cut in the shape of an ear of corn and ice with your favorite icing. Then have the kids layer yellow, orange, and brown M&Ms on the icing, covering half of the cookie. Then cut some green fruit rollups to look like corn husks and attach to the cookies using the icing. When you are finished, you’ll have a perfect treat for any school Thanksgiving celebration.
